United Nations Exhibit
Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland
November 12, 2009
Mr. Sergei A. Ordzhonikidze, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva made the opening remarks, followed by Mr. Douglas Griffiths, Charge of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and by Professor Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Finally, there was an appearance by a very special visitor, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, who has been a stalwart supporter of the Global Fund. To read the opening remarks, visit the “Geneva Opening Remarks” under “About the Exhibit” on the left side of the main page.
Visitors that evening from the diplomatic community in Geneva, from international organizations including many partners of the Global Fund, and several of the quilters viewed the quilts in the impressive setting of the Salle des Pas Perdus in the Palais des Nations, the European Headquarters of the United Nations. The exhibit remained open through World AIDS Day on December first, and was viewed by thousands of visitors during that time.
